Are ‘home therapies’ for body, hair, skin, and teeth the new normal?

The beauty and wellness industry has withstood Corona, and not only does it continue to thrive, but also expand. At-home skin laser treatments for curing acne and hair loss will soon be joined by opportunities for at-home teeth alignment as well, offered by Toothsi.

Toothsi, is a two-year-old dental tech D2C startup which is a part of the parent company, AMPA Orthodontics. Toothsi is in the business of selling a ‘great smile’ and offers customers an opportunity to get teeth alignment treatments at home! AMPA Orthodontics has raised US$5 million in order to expand its presence to over 15 Indian cities, enhance its research, development and technology capabilities, and also diversify into dermatological treatments. Skinnsi, a part of the AMPA group, will provide at-home beauty treatments such as laser hair removal; and Toothsi, who claims to have served 7,500 dental care customers last year, is targeting 50,000 this year for at-home dental care. The Toothsi’s at-home model of operations is predicting to serve 30 lakh customers by 2025, a company source has reportedly said.

The Indian healthtech market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 27 per cent between 2020-25 and will acquire 3.2 per cent of the global healthtech market in the next five year. In fact, it is projected to reach US$21.3 billion by 2025, from US$5.2 billion in 2019.
