Modern beauty trends are governed by social media, and that calls for constant innovations to keep practitioners on par with the evolving landscape.

We have officially entered the Age of AI. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes an integral part of our daily lives, aesthetic treatments are getting a boost due to new-age technology. We are speedily moving on from restorative and corrective treatments to ‘prejuvenation’ and intuitive treatments.

The focus strongly remains on non-invasive or minimally invasive procedures as well as cutting-edge technology with less downtime and instant results. Let’s look at the exciting developments in aesthetic medicine that are in demand this year.

Exosomes

Collagen generation has been the end-all of all skincare treatments and a biostimulator like exosomes have tested positive to do just that. Exosomes are small vesicles that contain genetic and cellular material and are for aesthetic use. They are derived from plant stem cells, which makes them rich in peptides.

The exosomes have to be injected into the skin where it signals the skin cells to generate more collagen. Done with the nano-needling process, injecting exosomes is an in-clinic process, done under the supervision of a dermatologist.

Moreover, exosomes work on signs of ageing, pigmentation and even rosacea, while also improving the texture of the skin.

PRF

Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) or Vampire Facials have garnered massive popularity amongst clients looking for rejuvenating treatments. Come 2024, and we have moved on to the next level.

Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) comes with a high concentration of platelets and growth factors. This stimulates elastin and collagen production by spurring stem cell activity and also accelerates the wound-healing process. PRF works on skin tone and texture, and acne marks.

Treatment stacking

Using multiple treatments to address a broad spectrum of skin issues is increasingly becoming a go-to approach for aesthetic practitioners. This includes using laser treatments in conjunction with chemical peels or using different laser treatments in a pre-planned series.

For instance, a laser session can be used to treat pigmentation and face contouring followed by a Broad Band Light (BBL) session for active acne and collagen generation.

Skin rejuvenation

Or shall we call it prejuvenation? Due to environmental factors and lifestyle habits, a client’s skin is constantly under duress.

While rejuvenation involves enhancing the skin tone and texture and targeting age-related signs, prejuvenation addresses these issues before they surface. Preventive care is a ‘must-do’ in modern times to ensure healthy skin.

Body contouring

The last couple of years have witnessed a surge in body contouring treatments. As people are veering towards healthy eating, mindfulness and sustainable lifestyle, they want to enhance their bodies, too.

The right kind of help from an aesthetic doctor can do wonders. Techniques like liposuction, tummy tucks and non-invasive procedures like CoolSculpting are commonly employed in body contouring. It offers individuals the opportunity to achieve their desired silhouette and enhance their confidence.

Whether it is eliminating stubborn bulges or restoring a more youthful appearance, body contouring provides a personalised approach to attaining aesthetic goals. Plus, empowering individuals to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.

We will see a lot more of body contouring in the months to come, with innovations featuring targeted treatments coming to the fore.

Embracing natural aesthetics

All of the above are device-based in-clinic treatments but there is also a shift in sensibilities that’s also figuring in as a part of trends for 2024. The no-make-up make-up look scored a 10/10 on social media this year. We see a similar trend gaining traction in aesthetics, too.

We are well aware of the regular anti-ageing and contouring treatments that clients prefer, such as botulinum toxin, fillers, and liposuction. However, with the advent of natural aesthetics, the focus has shifted to natural-looking effects.

For instance, liposuction has graduated to high-definition allowing the doctor to give athletic definition to body parts instead of simply removing excess fat. The focus is on the right proportions whilst cutting down on exaggerations, such as big breast implants and extreme facelifts.

A more homogenised look is now the desired result that clients and doctors alike are aiming for!
