Dr Punit Saraogi, Mumbai dermatologist and founder of Everything Skin & Hair Clinic, delivered a highly anticipated session at KOREADERMA 2025 in Seoul. His lecture, “The 785 Advantage”, presented practical strategies for treating difficult pigmentation in skin of colour.
He demonstrated how the Helios785PICO laser effectively manages complex pigmentation disorders. Although visiting Korea for the first time, Dr Punit has spent 12 years integrating Korean laser technology into his practice, strengthening his expertise.
India faces widespread pigmentation challenges
Dr Punit highlighted India’s widespread pigmentation issues, noting that nearly 80% of patients struggle with some form of pigmentation. He explained that addressing these conditions requires more than just advanced technology—it demands precise protocols and practitioner expertise.
He compared technology to a car that needs a skilled driver to avoid accidents. He emphasised that successful treatment depends on tailoring parameters to each patient’s skin type.
Helios785PICO delivers safe, effective results
Speaking about his long-term experience with the Helios785PICO, Dr Punit described the device as both reliable and transformative. He reported consistently high patient satisfaction due to the treatment’s safety profile and zero downtime. Patients return to everyday activities immediately, without avoiding sunlight or pausing skincare routines, and can even apply makeup right after treatment.
Importantly, he reported seeing no burns, PIH, or hypopigmentation—complications that often appear in darker skin types. He attributed this success to a deep understanding of skin biology and mastery of the system’s technology.
Visible improvement from the first session
Dr Punit highlighted his core treatment philosophy: patients should notice visible improvement from the very first session. He shared that patients often receive compliments the next day, a result that naturally drives strong word-of-mouth referrals. Although stubborn pigmentation may need six to ten sessions, early improvements in brightness, elasticity, and texture make the treatment highly popular at his clinic.
Indian patients, he noted, have responded enthusiastically to Helios785PICO, particularly because the system offers a wide range of customisable parameters. This flexibility enables him to perform differential sequential laser toning, a technique widely practised in Korean clinics. By combining multiple lasers strategically in a single session, he achieves superior outcomes even for challenging cases.
Why Helios785PICO excels in stubborn pigmentation
When discussing why the Helios785PICO excels in treating difficult pigmentation such as melasma, he pointed to the device’s picosecond energy delivery. The ultra-short pulse—one trillionth of a second—shatters pigment precisely while protecting surrounding skin. The 785 nm wavelength minimises vascular damage, reduces petechiae or bruising, and enables patients to resume normal activities immediately. By comparison, wavelengths like 755 nm and 1064 nm can cause more bleeding or bruising.
A comprehensive laser portfolio
Dr Punit operates around 15 laser devices at his clinic and uses Helios785PICO exclusively for pico treatments. He also relies on the Helios 3 and Hyperion for multiple indications, from hair removal to rosacea.
