AACS Announces Two Fellowship Programmes for Future Surgeons

Did you hear about the big announcement at the 2024 AACS Annual Scientific Meeting in New Orleans, LA? Two AACS Certified Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Training Programmes are open for applications, fostering interest in aesthetic medicine.

These programmes promise advanced education and comprehensive training in the areas of general cosmetic surgery and facial cosmetic surgery. The training aims to equip physicians with specialised skills and experience in the field.

Certified fellowship training programmes

The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) stands as the world’s largest multi-specialty organisation committed to cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine.

It warmly welcomes aspiring physicians to apply for its highly esteemed fellowship programmes. The General Cosmetic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery fellowships provide exceptional opportunities. The benefits include immersive, hands-on training under the mentorship of renowned cosmetic surgeons.

General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship:

In this program, experienced practitioners guide fellows, who get involved in a wide range of cosmetic procedures. Such as body contouring, breast augmentation, and non-surgical treatments like neuromodulators and fillers.

Dr Victoria Karlinsky-Bellini, MD, FAACS, Chair of the General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Committee, emphasises the programme’s exceptional advantage stating that diverse experiences are crucial for aspiring cosmetic surgeons.

Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship:

This fellowship, led by facial aesthetics experts, offers blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, and skin resurfacing. Dr Ryan Diepenbrock, DDS, FAACS, Chair of the Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Committee, emphasises the intensive training. It aims at arming fellows with crucial diagnostic and surgical skills.

Application process

Prospective candidates can refer to the AACS website to access the application and Match Process timeline. It is essential to adhere to specific program guidelines for both General Cosmetic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery fellowships.

The President’s Say

Dr Mo Banki, MD, DMD, FACS, who serves as the President of AACS, believes that these fellowships are more than just training programmes. They are shaping the future of cosmetic surgery as catalysts.

Through mentorship and commitment, AACS empowers fellows to become influential leaders shaping the field’s future for generations.
