Top Bridal Aesthetic Treatment Trends for Radiant Wedding Glow

In recent years, brides-to-be have been increasingly drawn to the latest top bridal aesthetic treatment trends, right? These treatments are all about enhancing natural beauty and ensuring a radiant glow for the big day. They focus on perfecting the complexion, achieving luminous skin, and addressing common concerns like acne, pigmentation, or signs of ageing.

To dive deeper into this topic, Dr Bansi Hirapara, Consultant Dermatologist and Founder, H&B Skin, Hair & Laser Clinic, Surat, shared her insights with AMI Editor Shriyal Sethumadhavan during the AM MedTalk Series. She detailed the bridal dermatology trends currently making waves in the aesthetic medicine industry.

It is crucial to discuss aesthetic treatments for brides and their families well in advance. How do we educate them and what aesthetic options are available?

Nowadays, the term “bride and groom” comes with a lot of responsibilities for us as dermatologists. The bride and groom view their wedding day as a major event in their lives, so they expect the best results from us.

Bridal dermatology has seen significant evolution over the past five years. Brides and their families are more informed and have higher expectations. Thanks to social media, clients arrive knowing what they want, but we often need to dispel influencer-driven myths.

Combining bridal treatments with scientific approaches yields the best results. Today’s brides want subtle enhancements to their natural beauty rather than drastic changes. They are looking for guidance on how to enhance their features rather than transform them completely. At my clinic, we adopt a holistic approach, emphasising overall health and well-being to achieve that bridal glow.

Brides now understand the importance of health, lifestyle, and mental well-being, recognising their significant impact on skin. We will discuss not only skin treatments but also hair issues, as brides and grooms want comprehensive care from head to toe.

They are well-planned, often starting their treatments four to six months or even a year before the wedding. It’s great to see such proactive planning.

For brides with textured skin, how do you choose between microdermabrasion and the Glomax Illuminating Peel? What factors guide your decision?

There are many newer terms in the market, like Glomax Facial or Illuminating Facials, which are not scientific terms but marketing labels. We should stick to scientific terms and tailor treatments to individual needs.

For brides with textured skin, we customise treatment plans based on their skin type, lifestyle, and specific concerns. For example, brides with acne need treatments planned well in advance—about four to six months before the wedding.

The treatment plan may include microdermabrasion, comedone extraction, and specific medications based on the acne type and severity. For hyperpigmentation or textured skin, starting with basic treatments is ideal.

Microdermabrasion, including diamond and Hydra Dermabrasion, removes dead skin cells and minimises pore size effectively. Chemical peels, with various types and concentrations, are also effective but should be used with caution.

We should avoid homemade peels as their concentrations are difficult to measure accurately. Choosing reputable brands from France, Spain, and other European countries ensures better results. It is important to remember that these treatments require multiple sessions to see significant improvement. Skincare treatments are not instant fixes, and patience is key.

What role does LED light therapy play in enhancing skin clarity and radiance, especially for brides with sensitive and reactive skin?

LED light therapy is a gentle treatment that uses low-energy light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Different wavelengths of light, such as red and blue, target various skin concerns. Red light penetrates the superficial layers of the skin and helps reduce sebum production and acne bacteria.

Blue light penetrates deeper to address pigmentation and stimulate collagen production. However, LED light therapy should not be used as a standalone treatment but as an adjunct to other therapies. There are many LED light devices available, but not all are effective.

Proper LED light therapy, administered by a professional, can be beneficial. It’s important not to overuse LED devices, as some influencers suggest because not all at-home devices are genuine LED lights.

How can an underfilling technique be particularly beneficial for brides seeking subtle enhancements, especially in areas like the cheeks and under the eyes?

Underfilling is an injectable procedure that uses fillers to enhance specific areas without the need for surgery. It’s effective for achieving a natural look with subtle improvements. For example, fillers can provide volume to the cheeks, under the eyes, and jawline, giving a refreshed appearance.

Brides who want subtle enhancements can benefit from underfilling, which enhances their features without drastically changing their appearance. It’s important to choose a skilled practitioner to minimise risks and ensure the best results.

With proper technique, fillers can provide a natural, beautiful enhancement that complements the bride’s existing features.

Sculpting the jawline is increasingly popular among brides. Explain the process of jawchitecture and how it enhances facial harmony, particularly in bridal preparation?

Okay, so the term “jawchitecture” might sound fancy, but it’s evolving as aesthetics become more innovative. Our face has a basic and well-defined structure: bone, muscles, fat pads (both deep and superficial), and skin.

Ligaments stretch and pull the skin and fat pads, defining our features like the cheeks. Over time, these features can loosen, leading to sagging. The term “architecture” in this context is about rebuilding, much like how we use pillars and slabs in constructing a house.

As aestheticians, we must understand the patient’s face aesthetics to enhance their appearance uniquely. Not every style suits everyone; some people look better with certain features than others. We tailor treatments to match each patient’s personality and desired look.

To make the jawline sharp, various procedures can be used. For a bulkier face with significant fat and sagging, high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive method that can burn fat and lift the structure over time.

A good HIFU machine requires just one session every six months. However, for more pronounced lifts, we often combine HIFU with toxins and fillers. Toxins can help relax the platysma bands, which run from the jawline to the chest, to reduce muscle pull and sagging.

The Nefertiti lift, which involves injecting toxins, is another option to enhance the jawline’s sharpness. Fillers are then added to define the jawline further. Expertise in these techniques is essential, and training from experienced professionals is recommended.

Subtle changes can make a person look more beautiful without obvious alterations, providing a sharp jawline that’s both natural and flattering.

Neck-tox and trap-tox – explain how these specialised treatments target the neck and trapezius muscles and their clinical benefits for brides?

Sure, “tox” refers to toxins, which, despite the name, are not harmful when used correctly. They are derived from botulinum toxin bacteria. Neck-tox specifically targets the platysma bands in the neck, which can become hypertrophic due to various factors like heavy lifting, extensive talking, or certain professions.

This can lead to superficial and deep wrinkles. Treating the neck with toxins can help relax these muscles and improve neck appearance, especially if the bride’s neck is often overlooked in facial treatments.

Traptox targets the trapezius muscles, which can become hypertrophic due to poor posture or heavy lifting. Relaxing these muscles with toxins can improve neck shape and posture. This treatment also has therapeutic benefits, such as alleviating neck pain. Additionally, there’s a term called “Barbie tox” for the trapezius area, which improves neck aesthetics and posture.

Micro-tox, or Barbie Botox, uses a diluted Botox solution injected superficially to treat forehead lines and crow’s feet. It provides a natural, subtle glow while also reducing pore size. It requires careful administration to avoid complications, but it can significantly enhance appearance while preserving natural expression.

Can you explain collagen induction therapy and autologous blood therapy? What roles do these play in bridal dermatology?

Collagen induction therapy and autologous blood therapy are my favourite treatments apart from injectables. Collagen induction therapy can be performed with various options, including autologous blood therapy.

Autologous blood therapy involves drawing blood, processing it to create components like PRP (platelet-rich plasma), and injecting it into the skin or hair. PRP is effective for hair loss and facial rejuvenation, helping with scars and fine lines. Advanced versions, like GFC (growth factor concentrate), offer even better results by activating and separating growth factors from platelets.

Both PRP and GFC stimulate collagen production, enhance skin elasticity, and promote new skin cell formation. GFC is more advanced than PRP and provides a natural anti-ageing effect. Commercial solutions like meso solutions contain glutathione, peptides, amino acids, and hyaluronic acid. These can be injected to address various skin concerns.

These therapies are minimally invasive, using tiny needles and topical anaesthesia. They can provide a glowing, healthy complexion with visible results within a week.

For body contouring or body shaping, I am sure brides who have their dream outfits want their bodies to be perfectly shaped for them. What challenges do you face in this regard?

Body contouring is a distinct segment because not every practitioner offers it. Where your practice matters a lot since body contouring requires a significant investment. One machine can cost anywhere from 60 to 70 lakh.

Therefore, the cost is a factor. In tier-one or tier-two cities, this might be manageable, but in tier-three cities, it is less feasible. In a city like Surat, where everyone is a foodie, even with body contouring, people might still gain weight due to their lifestyle.

From a medical science perspective, there are various ways to approach body contouring. For example, cool sculpting works at the molecular level to reduce fat. Some people, despite exercising and following a healthy diet, struggle with stubborn fat in areas like the belly, arms, love handles, and thighs. Technologies like cryolipolysis can target these stubborn fat areas by freezing them, which then gets eliminated by the body.

Other methods include thread lifts for areas like saggy breasts or post-pregnancy belly skin, and non-invasive therapies like EMSCULPTING. EMSCULPTING uses electromagnetic stimulation to contract muscles, providing effects similar to numerous crunches within a short time. This helps reposition fat.

However, patience is essential, as one session won’t produce significant results. Brides often want to eliminate stubborn fat and achieve a toned look. Various treatments like microdermabrasion and full-body peels address issues such as tanning or pigmentation.
