Skin Beyond Borders (SkinBB) has launched an audited skincare ecosystem for Indian consumers.
The platform combines artificial intelligence, dermatologist expertise, product verification and scientific ingredient information. SkinBB designed the ecosystem around Indian skin, climate and consumer needs. The company aims to help consumers make skincare decisions based on evidence rather than online trends.
Product verification comes before discovery
The company said consumers often face conflicting advice, ingredient claims and product recommendations online. The platform addresses this problem by placing product verification before product discovery.
Its Product Review and Advisory Council reviews every product before SkinBB lists it. The council checks ingredient safety, label compliance and the integrity of product claims. Only products that meet its standards can enter the marketplace.
The company said this process strengthens every other intelligence layer across the platform. Verified product data also supports more reliable ingredient scores and personalised recommendations.
AI-powered skincare guidance
The platform’s central intelligence engine, VyBIE, combines user skin profiles with local environmental conditions. These conditions include ultraviolet radiation, air quality, temperature and humidity. VyBIE uses this information to generate contextual skincare guidance for individual users.
The company also offers the Skin Friendliness Index, or SFI. The proprietary model combines environmental factors into a single indicator for skin health conditions. It considers ultraviolet exposure, air quality, temperature and humidity. The index aims to show how environmental conditions may affect skin health.
Ingredient intelligence and scientific information
Another key feature, LabelLooker, analyses skincare ingredients and explains their functions. It also helps users assess ingredient suitability for their individual skin profiles. SkinBB complements LabelLooker with Ingredipedia, its scientific ingredient database.
The company developed Ingredipedia with the VES College of Pharmacy in Mumbai. The database provides evidence-based information to support informed skincare choices.
Verified dermatologists strengthen consumer trust
The company also operates a Verified Dermatologist Network. SkinBB verifies participating dermatologists against the National Medical Commission registry. Users can view their professional credentials through the platform.
Dr Pravin Banodkar, SkinBB co-founder and practising dermatologist, highlighted pigmentation as a major concern for Indian skin. He said environmental factors can contribute to post-inflammatory pigmentation. The company aims to give dermatologists a visible and verifiable role within the consumer journey.
Dr Soma Sarkar, another SkinBB co-founder and practising dermatologist, said the platform prioritises credibility. She said the company keeps its intelligence tools free for consumers. These tools include environmental insights, ingredient analysis and answers from verified dermatologists.
Commerce follows intelligence
The company places its commerce layer behind its intelligence services. Users can therefore access guidance before deciding whether to purchase products. It also allows users to leave without buying when no product meets their needs.
