It’s a great example of the promising possibilities that are out there for people who are willing to step into this constantly evolving industry.
On opportunities for emerging practitioners
Currently, aesthetic medicine is flourishing, presenting an exciting time for young practitioners to excel through hard work and goal achievement. There are several contributing factors.
Societal acceptance of aesthetic procedures has grown significantly, driven by a shift towards valuing appearance and self-confidence, particularly post-COVID. In countries like India, beauty standards often emphasise external appearance, influencing demand.
Natural-looking results are increasingly valued, and our expertise in advanced technologies such as lasers, injectables, and regenerative medicine allows us to meet these expectations effectively.
On inspiration and mentorship in aesthetics
My motivation stems from my family background in medicine; both my father and brother are doctors, influencing my path from an early age. However, my true passion lies in merging art with science, which led me to pursue aesthetic medicine. It is a field where I can apply artistic skills to enhance patients’ happiness and confidence.
I have been fortunate to have three mentors who shaped my professional journey. Dr Jagdish Sakhiya, a pioneer in aesthetic medicine, provided invaluable guidance during my two years working with him.
Dr Piyush Borkhatariya from Junagadh supported the development of my private practice, motivating me significantly. Dr Yogesh Bhingradia, a skilled dermato-surgeon, taught me advanced techniques, enhancing my skills as a dermatologist and aesthetic injector.
On early challenges in aesthetics
My background in dermatology posed challenges. Coming from a government institute focused on clinical dermatology, I lacked exposure to aesthetics. Government colleges in India do not emphasise aesthetic training, so I pursued independent education to fill this gap.
Passion for dermatology and interest in aesthetics led me to seek further training and establish a clinic with advanced technologies. Financial investments were significant but necessary for high-quality treatments. Balancing personal commitments like marriage and career development added complexity.
Building a patient base was challenging; I used social media strategically (Instagram, YouTube, Google) to overcome this hurdle. Overcoming these challenges required dedication, continuous learning, and leveraging digital tools to grow professionally and provide exceptional patient care.
