Dr Anil Ganjoo, Sr Consultant Dermatologist and Laser Surgeon, and Director, Skinnovation Clinics, spotlights the top aesthetic procedures that are changing the game this year.
On trending treatments for 2024:
Currently, the trending aesthetic treatments in the lasers is the laser hair reduction. It has witnessed a huge change. There are multi-wavelength lasers available now, combinations of Alexandrite wavelength, diode wavelength of 810 and the 1064 Nd-YAG wavelength.
The combination gives better results. We also have newer kinds of Q-switched lasers available now that treat not only the basic pigmented lesions but also help in skin rejuvenation. The picosecond laser helps in the treatment of scars. There has been considerable development in that segment, too.
Injectables also have evolved, particularly boosters, which are being used to give shine and glow to the skin. In body contouring, new devices with HIFU and with monopolar radio frequency, bipolar and multipolar radiofrequency are taking the lead.
Hair restoration and hair transplants, particularly follicular extraction and unit extraction, have evolved, giving gratifying results. Newer techniques such as long hair transplants are also gaining popularity.
On-demanding global treatments:
Many global aesthetic treatments have already come to India, such as innovative body threads, lifting of the wrist, and threads for hair rejuvenation.
Intimate rejuvenation is another exciting development these days, which includes vaginal tightening, and improvement of the genitals.
Exosomes are being used and talked about in aesthetic circles, both in terms of application and injectables. They are supposed to work wonders on both skin and hair.
